  • Infinite Crisis has shut down.

With its departure, Dawnbase will be going into permanent read-only mode and will remain as both an archive of information about Infinite Crisis, and a reminder of the times we all had with the game.

Hats off to you all. It was a pleasure, ladies and gentlemen.

    Introduction

Catwoman is a competent laner with strong harass and a long reach.
    *******************NOTE************************

It has come to my attention that people don't realize that I include the Augments for a reason. They are there for a reason! The biggest thing people tell me is that the Claw of Horus is too expensive for early game, with the augment it is only 550 credits!
    **************************************************

    Gotham Heights

Augments: Optimized Joe Chill's Revolver, Enhanced Atomic Axe, Optimized Claw of Horus
    Augment Total Cost: 3600
Modifiers: Attack damage and lifesteal are always a safe bet. Examine your weaknesses as a player and compensate.

    Overview:

Your goal as Catwoman on Gotham Heights is to soften up foes and stop enemies from escaping when things go south for them. At the start of the match you want to go top, but Catwoman is also a VERY capable bottom champion. The only issue with going bottom is that you may end up undercredited, and an undercredited Blaster isn't very useful to anyone. It is however very easy to come back as Catwoman on any map though as she can reap assists easily. Don't forget about capturing points and using Cat's Paw on approaching enemies to give your team the extra second to finish capping a point.

    Items:
Start with Nil Weapon, Claw Of Horus (1), and a Tektite Vial. Once you hit 1000 credits go back to base and pick up tier 2 of the Claw of Horus. Next, put any spare credits you have towards [[Hawkman's Harness (4)]] or Promethium Mace (4). This is to keep your stats up while you accumulate 1500 credits to buy [[Joe Chill's Revolver (1)]] as the Promethium Mace and Hawkman's Harness can be sold back at tier 4 for their full value. For the rest of the match just complete [[Joe Chill's Revolver (4)]], Claw Of Horus (3), Atomic Axe (2), [[Cheetah's Claw (4)]], and [[Deathstroke's Claymore]]
Here are some other item options:
Sword Of Beowulf (3): This item has quite a few benfits and many useful augments. It also fits easily into any build. If you see that you are getting wrecked by Power Damage champions, consider buying the Sword of Beowulf.
Why Claw over Sword: The Claw Of Horus (3) and Sword Of Beowulf (3) are essentially companion items. One gives attack damage, attack armor, and an attack armor boosting passive. The other gives attack damage, power armor, and a power armor passive ability. The reason why the Claw of Horus is in the recommended augments is because it has precious lifesteal while the Sword of Beowulf does not.
[[Deadshot's Visor (4)]]: If you get this item because you're worried about will, don't be. Gotham Heights is very small and the teleport back home time is very fast. It's easy to refill will at base then be back out on the battlefield. If you're getting it for the ability, drop the Atomic Axe (1) augment and pick up the Accelerated Deadshot's Visor augment.

    Strategy:
Always know your attack distance and Acrobat range. It is VERY easy to bully enemies with Catwoman so long as you learn her skill ranges. Acrobat adds extra knockdown to Cat's Paw, so that will allow you enough time to escape if an opponent charges you after getting tired of being messed with. Bait enemies off of points by relentlessly hitting them with Whip Strike and then using Cat's Paw on them as they are off the pad. If you've already maxed out [[Joe Chill's Revolver (4)]] and [[Cheetah's Claw (4)]] go ahead and Acrobat to them and finish them off with basic attacks as they are off the pad.
Whip Strike will do a large amount of damage by mid game and it becomes even stronger if you use it after using Acrobat. This means you can soften up most enemies as they approach you and engage in a basic attack fight with them and win.

Here is a map (note that middle no longer has the grave) and optimal pathes:

The purple outlines the best Catwoman pathes. You want to utilize the fog of war and speed pads to get around the map and pick up kills and attack/defend points. The red marks areas that really have no benefit for Catwoman. You should know that already though.

    Coast City (DEFUNCT)

Augments: Empowered Nil Weapon, Empowered Marauder Knife, Optimized Joe Chill's Revolver
    Augment Cost: 3200

Until Coast City comes back for public games, I will not be updating this section.

    Overview:
Catwoman may not be the best choice on Coast City, but her skills are great for picking up kills basically anywhere on the map. Play aggressively yet cautiously and always have your eyes open for careless enemies who step just a little too far. Also note that it is VERY easy to kill steal with Catwoman, so just be careful as I have seen people quit over that.

    Items:
Start with the Nil Weapon. The second item depends on your comfort and skill level with Catwoman (Tektite vial, two vials of one thing, or get Marauder Knife (1)). Once you get to tier 3 of the Marauder Knife you can either start working on [[Joe Chill's Revolver (4)]] or get tier 4 of the Knife if you need the attack penetration. After you max out the Revolver start on the Zeiss Goggles (4). The rest of the items are all situational, so use your best judgement when determining what you need to buy next.

    Strategy:
While you can lane as Catwoman your best bet would be to do some jungling and leave most lane activity to a friend.
If you end up as a laner due to your team composition try to always get the last hit on drones with your whip so you don't have to move into enemy turf too much. If it's a 1v2 lane then do the same thing only be even lazier and stay close to your turret while whipping for last hits.
So jungling. It might seem odd to have Catwoman do it, but her skills work better for sudden surprise ganks than they do with damage trading in lanes. Use the unholy combo of Consume and Detonate on the high priced mobs and always upgrade your Marauder Knife as soon as possible to make this easier.

    Attacking:
If you're going for the gank always get behind enemies. You can use Cat's Paw to knock them down which will allow your other team members to "catch up" to them. By mid game you can start chasing and aggressively baiting enemies as your Whip Strike will be doing plenty of damage and they'll be tempted to chase you down to make you stop. Look to harass characters like Cyborg and Mecha Wonder Woman since Catwoman is one of the few champions who can do so competently.

    Gotham Divided

Augments: Optimized Claw of Horus, Optimized Joe Chill's Revolver, Accelerated Deadshot's Visor
    Augment Cost: 3600 (?)

    Overview:
Now that Catwoman has built in splash damage she has become a very strong laner at the cost of some of her teeth. Use Acrobat and Whip Strike to clear drone waves and damage enemy laners all at once. Be careful though, Catwoman is a horrid will-guzzler now so you need to manage your skill use until you have enough will to just cut loose.

    Items:

Start with [[Deadshot's Visor (1)]] and a combination of Health, Will, or Tektite vials. If you think you'll be up against a Marksman, pick up more Health than will. For the second item get [[Deadshot's Visor (2)]] or Claw Of Horus (1). Whichever one you don't choose will be gotten next. After you have tier 2 of Deadshot's Visor and the Claw of Horus, take a look at your team's current needs. If your team is winning or is ahead, you can get Claw Of Horus (2). If it is close, start working towards getting [[Joe Chill's Revolver (4)]]. After you max out the Revolver start on one of the items listed below. It is player's choice so use your best Judgement.
Sword Of Beowulf (3): If you're fighting strong Power Damage enemies pick up the Sword of Beowulf. It is has solid damage and a great ability.
[[Deathstroke's Claymore (2)]]: You need to pump out damage. This item will do just that. It also comes with two neat abilities and boosts attack speed (which you will use when you use Bad Kitty offensively)
Soultaker Katana (4): This is a very interesting item. You can pick it up early game over Claw Of Horus (1) and be fine, just be sure to get the augment that adds more stack capacity. Experiment with this item over the Claw of Horus when you're ready to find your own ideal Catwoman build.
[[Huntress' Crossbow (3)]]: This is a simple item with very simple benefits (AD and CDR). That doesn't mean it is bad, it's just that you should try out items with special abilites as those are the game changers. It is important to note that this is the only item that gives attack damage AND cooldown reduction.

    Strategy:
As a general rule of mine, I don't go back to base unless I have Catwoman's Teleport up to make a quick return.
Taking the bottom or top lane will reap the most rewards for you as you will have access to middle which will allow you to assist in ganks using Cat's Paw.

The optimal paths for attacking middle from top and bottom. Aim to get behind opponents.

Make life a living hell for the enemy middle laner (mid is for the most part done solo) by going for the kill anytime they enter the center area of the lane. Attack from behind when possible.
When laning, be agressive but not too aggressive early on. This isn't because you're weak, but because you don't want to make it obvious to your enemies that you are very capable as it will cause them to be more cautious.

I don't understand why you get Joe Chills or Attack Speed items on Catwoman. You aren't autoattacking that often to make use of either, a little attack speed I can understand but are the costs really worth it on the Cheetah's Paw for Catwoman? Talking about costs, is Joe Chill's really worth the cost for the 70 AD? You aren't going to attack enough to really make the crit make much of a difference and the passive is pointless if you don't crit. Overall, I think its a decent guide but you don't explain WHY you build AS, or why all the builds are fully focused on building Joe Chill's. Sure it gives you 70 AD, but in the end is it really worth it? You obviously feel it is, but it'd be nice to know why instead of "build it to tier 4".

Hello there. This is a dated guide and many items no longer have the same stats as they once did and in general game changes have reshaped the way Catwoman should be played. I don't plan on updating this guide for awhile so I'd recommend examining the more recent Cat guides. Thanks for the comment though.

your guide doesn't make sense at all :(

Why the chiller? Her whip crits are out, and you won't be fighting in melee range too often. I'd rather get the crossbow or visor.

Guide is updated except for the Coast City section, which I will not be updating for now. Original guide available upon request.

A really nice guide, i don't see the point of taking the Marauder Knife though, it's not like you are gonna touch jungle creatures a lot as catwoman (except for raider, leviathan and EMP buff ofc), so isn't Coda Blade a beter option? I mean it's the same amount of AD and Coda gives more attack pen... You have to remember that Marauder item's passive doesn't work on lane drones ;)

You bring up a good point. I always do some jungling as Catwoman on GD and CC but I didn't mention that in the guide, or at least not in the GD section. When I'm confident I won't f up the guide by editing it I'll make some changes.
